The way engineers, merchandise managers, and designers activity together is motionless dilatory and janky, says one Y Combinator-backed startup.

Now, it's raised $6.1 myriad to assistance non-engineers immediately create changes to a company's existing codebase using AI agents.

San Francisco-based Lightsprint stated its application can rotate a plain English petition into a reviewable drag request, which is a projected code alter that engineers inspect before merging it into production. This allows non-technical staffers specified as merchandise managers (PMs), designers, and operations workers to get additional immediately engaged in shipping software.

"We established that really there were a lot of PMs akin me as fine as designers who really really wanted to change to production," Benjamin Ong, Lightsprint's cofounder and CEO, told Business Insider.

AI has changed the activity of designers and merchandise managers. Designers increasingly use generative AI tools to create first concepts and prototypes faster, during merchandise managers are using agents and vibe-coding tools. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 5% growth in web and digital interface decorator occupation from 2025 to 2035.

Ong stated application betterment has traditionally engaged a lengthy sequence of handoffs: a merchandise director writes a requirements document, engineers measure specialized feasibility, designers create mockups, and engineers ultimately rebuild the characteristic in code. That could obtain up to two to three months.

The startup, which Ong, Benedict Chan, and Heng Hong Lee founded before this year, is positioning itself against the fragmented tools many companies use to build products — including prototyping application specified as Lovable, scheme application akin Figma, and coding assistants specified as Anthropic's Claude.

Lightsprint says it's a one-stop shop that connects to a company's existing code. Then its agents can compose merchandise requirements documents, create code, and create live previews. After, individual engineers can assessment the code and decide whether to add it to their software.

The startup began operating alongside first users in April and now plant alongside complete 100 companies. Lightsprint went through Y Combinator's Spring 2026 batch. 645 Ventures led its seed round, alongside alongside January Capital, Rebel Fund, and angel investors, including Opendoor CEO Kaz Nejatian.

The startup has a six-person squad divided between San Francisco and Singapore. Ong stated the new backing volition go toward hiring in endeavor sales, marketing, design, and engineering.

"We're seeing merchandise managers, designers, and equal endeavor teams build features and present high-quality code changes themselves, during engineering stays in control," stated Ong.
