The Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones are the most latest admission in Sony's 1000X series, which has been about since 2016. They're the best over-ear headphones in conditions of audio norm currently on the market—but not everyone can (or needs to) autumn nearly fractional a expansive on headphones.
The WH-1000XM5 are a generation older and were at the top of their category until they were supplanted by the XM6. On the affirmative side, by morality of being older, they're currently discounted to $198 (down from the first $399.99) during Amazon's first Black Friday sale. That 50% off brings it downward to the lowest cost they've always reached, according to price-tracking tools, a fine agreement for premium headphones that motionless audio incredible, equal in 2026.
I have been a loyal client of the 1000X row for many years; they're my go-to headphones for most activities. The WH-1000XM5 received an "outstanding" assessment from PCMag for their top-notch audio norm and exceptional audio whenever using the best-in-class energetic noise cancellation. The headphones are additionally well-designed to be comfortable for lengthy listening sessions. The ear controls use tapping and swiping, which isn't my favorite, but it's what all contemporary headphones are moving toward. There's a companion app that lets you modify your EQ settings to your liking, including what the swiping and tapping functions do.
These headphones additionally have a stereo 3.5mm connection, which is ideal for those who desire to use a cable and not concern concerning power division life. And speaking of power division life, Sony says you can anticipate concerning 30 hours, but it volition change depending on your use of ANC. They are compatible alongside AAC, LDAC, and SBC codecs and have multipoint connection, definition you can brace them alongside additional than one equipment at the identical time.
Personally, I think the value for the prosperity you get alongside the XM5 for $198 is improved than paying complete cost for the XM6. If you're looking to get onward of the Black Friday anarchy and safe an amazing agreement on awesome headphones, this is it.
