YouTube, Twitch, Meta, and X aren’t saying whether they’ll authorize the US authorities to livestream an implementation on their platforms. The four companies didn’t react to The Verge’s requests for comment following an unnamed Pentagon authoritative stated yesterday that the implementation of Nidal Hasan, who was convicted of a bulk shooting at a Texas armed forces basis in 2009, will be livestreamed.
Two platforms responded to The Verge’s inquiries. Jamie Favazza, a spokesman for TikTok’s US operations, pointed to the platform’s policies banning “shocking and explanatory content,” including “the instant of someone’s death.” Kick, a phase known for taking a hands-off method to satisfied moderation, confirmed that specified a livestream would breach its policies. “If this was livestreamed on KICK, it would breach our Community Guidelines,” Kick spokesman Audrey FitzGerald writes in an emailed declaration to The Verge.
