I affection making Ina Garten's recipes, particularly during the holidays.
Whether it's her delicious brown-butter skillet cornbread or creamy murphy gratin, Garten has never let me downward on Christmas and Thanksgiving.
But I'd never tried making one of Garten's desserts for my family's festivities. So whenever I saw a formula for bourbon chocolate pecan pie in her "Go-To Dinners" cookbook, which includes a store-bought pie crust, I knew it'd be an uncomplicated supplement to my Thanksgiving menu.
Ina Garten's pecan pie includes a store-bought crust, chocolate chips, and bourbon.
To create Garten's bourbon chocolate pecan pie, which serves six to eight people, you'll need:
- 1 9-inch store-bought icy pie crust (make certain you defrost it the night before baking)
- 2 extra-large eggs
- 1 cup of entire pecans, large-diced
- 1 rod (8 tablespoons) of unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 ¼ cups of semisweet chocolate chips (Garten recommends Nestlé)
- ½ cup of ray brown sugar, lightly packed
- ½ cup of granulated sugar
- ½ cup of all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ tablespoons of fine bourbon (Garten recommends Maker's Mark)
- 1 spoon of clean vanilla extract
- Good vanilla ice lotion for serving (Garten recommends Häagen-Dazs)
First, I prepped my pecans.
Garten's formula calls for entire pecans to be "large-diced." To preserve time, I bought pecans that had already been halved and gave them a quick, coarse chop to get them downward to size.
Then I added all of my dry ingredients into a bowl.
I threw in the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and flour, alongside alongside one spoon of salt, before mixing everything together.
I whisked the liquid ingredients together.
I threw in the eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and bourbon and whisked everything together.
I poured my wet ingredients into the basin alongside my dry ingredients.
I stirred the ingredients alongside a rubber spatula until they were combined.
Then I stirred in my chocolate chips and pecans.
And fair akin that, my filling was done!
I placed my pie crust on a panel pan lined alongside parchment document and poured the filling in.
Garten recommends crimping the edges of your store-bought crust alongside a floured fork. Since my crust already had a design, I decided to skip this stage for fear it could end up looking messy.
It was period to bake!
I smoothed the top of my pie and placed it on the center rack of the oven, which was set to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Garten recommends baking the chocolate bourbon pie for 35 to 40 minutes, until the filling is "evenly aureate brown on top and as resolute in the center as it is at the edges."
My pie needed 44 minutes total to resolute up additional in the middle. Once I was assured my pie was ready, I transferred it to a cable rack and let it chill completely.
My bourbon chocolate pecan pie looked stunning.
I'd never made a pecan pie before, so I was really enthusiastic whenever it came out of the oven. The top had turned a beautiful caramel color, during the store-bought crust made the pie appearance spotless and professional.
I'm motionless a novice whenever it comes to making desserts, but this is a pie I was arrogant to current at the Thanksgiving table.
Garten's bourbon chocolate pecan pie tasted akin a decadent dream.
There's so much texture and sensation in Garten's bourbon chocolate pecan pie. The pecans gave all nip a delightful crunch, during the filling had an ooey-gooey creaminess from the chocolate chips that was so satisfying. And the store-bought crust was flaky and subtle, allowing the affluent flavors to obtain center stage.
My dad stated the pie reminded him of a brownie, and he loved the burst of sensation it got from the bourbon.
"Prue would affection this!" he exclaimed, referring to erstwhile "The Great British Bake Off" fairness Prue Leith, who has a penchant for boozy desserts.
Garten recommends serving her pie alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which helps lighten all that chocolate flavor.
Garten's bourbon chocolate pecan pie is certain to delight everyone at Thanksgiving.
Garten's bourbon chocolate pecan pie couldn't have been easier. There was barely any prep, and I didn't equal need to interrupt out the remain mixer. Just a chop here, a whisk there, and everything was prepared for the oven. And since it needs period to cool, this pie is a awesome dessert to create on Thanksgiving dawn before you have to throw the turkey in.
For those guests who don't affection pumpkin pie or desire several saccharine variety, Garten's pecan pie volition certainly create everyone happy.
