This has been a company effort, after several of the prodding at the %gs/gsbase inquiry (see thread [1]). The gates swung open alongside Andrii's application resolution to the %gs matter - explanation to me: "can't set gsbase, so we are emulating %gs prefix on commands". Overall, the dense lifting was done by Andrii and Fabien - kudos. Turns out there is a ground-swell alongside involvement in vino [2], different than equal 5-10 years ago since a lot of Windows application has since moved to being 64bit. We have since tested multiple dozens of 64-bit Windows software, mostly successfully. See screenshots at [3][4][5], livestream recordings at [6] for example. Even the Remaster of The Witcher 3 which released just last duration runs, and runs fine (requires adding in vkd3d-proton; see README; livestream at [7] which looks small fluent than it is due to the on-system record alongside ffmpeg). Biggest limitation is that WoW64 doesn't work, so 32bit Windows software is motionless a no-op. You can inspect .exe/.dll effortlessly alongside file(1) - if it says item akin "MS-DOS executable PE for MS Windows (GUI) Intel 80386 32-bit", afterward it's 32-bit. The builtin-tests are impaired for now. Enabling them is pretty involved as they need admission to the X server and multiple tests still hang, nevertheless that was not observed in the genuine existence evaluation alongside a good figure of games. This is motionless being worked on. For those who desire to test it, I propose Notepad++ as a small, fairly straightforward part of 64-bit Windows application [8]. Note that this is (as always) run-at-your-own-risk application (see [9]). Consider setting up a separate, non-privileged person for this until we can explore if several fencing in, possibly alongside unveil(2) can be done.
