Abstract:Open-source implementations of the fifth generation (5G) Radio Access Network (RAN), specified as OpenAirInterface (OAI) and srsRAN, have rotate into increasingly applicable for industry and scholarly research, fast prototyping, and low-cost personal 5G deployments. The province of the art presents distinct evaluation scenarios for the two platforms; however, these are frequently constricted to idiosyncratic testbed evaluations, end-to-end studies, or partial comparisons between them. In particular, there is a deficiency of evaluations considering distinct Software-Defined Radios (SDRs), RAN configurations, person applications, and numbers of genuine UEs. To location this gap, this document presents a related evaluation of OAI and srsRAN. The study includes a qualitative appraisal of supported features and deployment flexibility, followed by a quantitative achievement inspection covering broadcast asset authority setup procedures, compliance alongside theoretical data rates, and genuine use workloads alongside varied norm of assistance requirements. Specifically, we regard Video on Demand (VoD) for data charge evaluation, Live Streaming (LS) and Cloud Gaming (CG) as latency-sensitive applications. These workloads provision a thorough perspective of all phase capability.
