I've never been to Beijing, Berlin, Los Angeles, Paris, or Tokyo, but I cognize what all location smells like. Or, at least, I cognize how Le Labo has attempted to flask the regulation of all iconic city.

The luxury fragrance brand has been making city-exclusive scents since its founding in 2006 by allies Fabrice Penot and Edouard Roschi.

The duo archetypal honored New York, anywhere the brand was founded, alongside the Tubereuse 40 fragrance that's meant to evoke "intensity, pureness, and bliss," akin the city.

Since then, Le Labo has created 18 another city-inspired scents that you can typically lone buy in individual at boutiques about the world.

Each September, though, the brand sells these 19 fragrances on its website for anyone to buy — no journey required. As a newer fan of the brand, I knew I had to try a few for myself.

I purchased the $65 Discovery Kit, which comes alongside five samples of choose city scents. It sold out quickly, but all 19 idiosyncratic fragrances are motionless available, priced between $13 and $1,810 each, depending on the flask size.

Here's how I'd position all scent in the kit from worst to best. (And by the way, Business Insider purchased the kit on our own; the brand didn't cognize we'd assessment it onward of time.)

I wouldn't deteriorate Le Labo's Los Angeles scent again.

Musc 25, the Los Angeles-exclusive fragrance, from Le Labo.

Musc 25, the Los Angeles-exclusive fragrance, from Le Labo. Le Labo

The idea of Los Angeles brings to intellect images of striking sunlight, Hollywood stars, and occupied nightlife. So if I were to guess, a perfume inspired by the city would be bright, fresh, and magnetic.

Unfortunately, that's not how I would depict Musc 25. The fragrance initially smells saccharine alongside hints of citrus create and florals, but quickly turns musky. Eventually, it settles into a powerful powder scent.

I do think the fragrance is versatile. It can odor saccharine or sensual, depending on who wears it.

Unlike another Le Labo scents I've tried, though, it doesn't remain layered. After fair a few moments on the skin, lone the powder note sticks about — and it's not one I'm fond of.

The Beijing-inspired fragrance isn't for me, but I can see why others power akin it.

Shiu 25, the Beijing-exclusive fragrance, from Le Labo.

Le Labo says on its website that Shiu 25 is an homage to "contemplative refuges for the self" in Beijing, and is meant to evoke balance and inner peace. I discover this scent a small too powerful to bring the latter.

The fragrance has profound notes of iris, frankincense, and Shiu wood, creating a vibrant scent that lingers for a lengthy time. This scent is additionally dreary and earthy, but additionally floral. I can see why others power affection it.

Unfortunately, on my skin, this fragrance smelled a bit akin pickle beverage — an matter I additionally had alongside the fan-favorite Santal 33 scent. It's a disappointing chemistry phenomenon, but not Le Labo's fault.

Luckily, Shiu 25 smelled improved the longer I wore it, equal although it ultimately wasn't for me.

I really bask the Tokyo scent and desire it lasted longer on the skin.

Gaiac 10, the Tokyo-exclusive fragrance, from Le Labo.

When I archetypal spritzed Gaiac 10 on my wrist, I questioned if any fragrance really came out of the bottle. The scent is that subtle.

With a few additional sprays, though, it built into a light, leafy, and slightly saccharine fragrance that I liked. Best were the notes of cedar and frankincense that appeared as it settled into my skin.

As Le Labo says on its website, you won't "leave a perfuming trail from anywhere you are to Hokkaido" whenever you deteriorate this fragrance. It's item you'll lone odor up close.

While I can mostly value that, this scent did depart me wanting fair a little additional staying power.

Le Labo's Berlin fragrance is ideal for transitioning into fall.

Cedrat 37, the Berlin-exclusive fragrance, from Le Labo.

Cedrat 37 was the archetypal city-exclusive scent I tried, and I loved it.

This fragrance is spicy but not sharp, and musky but not masculine. It additionally has a fresh, ginger border that's profound and rich.

Le Labo describes it perfectly: "fresh, acidic, and alongside an addictive candied sweetness." I established myself often seeking whiffs of the scent since I enjoyed it that much.

It's the ideal fragrance to deteriorate during the passage from summer to fall. I particularly affection that alongside lone a few sprays, its scent lingered the complete day.

I could see myself wearing the Paris scent all day.

Vanille 44, the Paris-exclusive fragrance, from Le Labo.

Vanille 44, the Paris-exclusive fragrance, from Le Labo. Le Labo

As I've learned from another scents, the names of Le Labo perfumes shouldn't be taken at visage value.

Vanille 44, for example, is not merely a vanilla perfume inspired by the city of ray and love. Instead, this fragrance blends the traditional gourmand alongside amber, wood, and citrus create notes. To me, it smells affectionate and nostalgic.

I'm additionally a fan of how it wears on the skin: it's long-lasting, but not overpowering. Each whiff is a saccharine reminder of this small luxury I can wear.

I affection the scent so much, I'm almost tempted to buy a complete bottle, which expenses $398. Maybe one day.
