Google Logo Explode

It has been a during since I reported on a Google Search ranking update. I blame the tools, but in all seriousness, I am seeing a spike in volatility and, now likely additional importantly, a spike in chatter complete the former 24 hours, connected to Google Search ranking changes, referral traffic changes and general disruption in the Google Search results.

As a reminder, we had the Google September 2026 spam update commencement on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at about 12:00 pm ET and completed on October 8, 2026 at 4:37 am ET. That update had three waves of volatility, in our opinion. They include:

Before that, we had unconfirmed updated about September 23/24, volatility on September 15th, afterward the weirdness alongside September 4 through 13.

I should note that there seems to be an ongoing increase in manual actions, human-generated Google hunt penalties.

Now, I am seeing a spike in SEO chatter and at the identical time, several tools showing volatility, complete the former day or two.

SEO Chatter

Let's commencement alongside the chatter at WebmasterWorld alongside comments from the community concerning ranking and traffic changes from Google Search complete the former 24 hours. Here are several of those comments:

Really dreadful today, indeed. Decline is fair the trend the final few years. Nothing to do concerning it. Not lone alongside Google, but another hunt engines are additionally sending fair small traffic complete the final few years. Almost not noticeable, logic of the period span. But small by little. A new norm following another new standard, until there is no income left.

Today is entirely dreadful. Every sole website I detect or have analytics admission to is seeing barely any traffic today. It doesn’t matter if it's an e-commerce shop, a news site, a blog, etc. On top of that, all the stories showing up in the News tab are entirely outdated. Some of them are exactly 3 months old. Something is certainly way off correct now.

Simply said: conversions nearly gone, apparently normal traffic. There is a lot of bot traffic (besides the normal traffic) which I am not wasting my period on, to be honest. Something changed during/after the spam update.

That's exactly the identical form I'm seeing correct now on my location and countless another websites. And to be honest, I'm at a defeat correct now. Traffic this dawn has been specified a catastrophe that I'm wondering why we're equal bothering to compose anymore; nobody's study it anyway. (Well, and this month's ad income is practically nonexistent.)

I concur traffic has dropped akin a rock alongside alongside Discover and news visibility. Even the Google News app and Discover in broad are showing old stories. Some of them at smallest a week old.

Traffic crawls a bit in the dawn and by evening it retracts rear into the abyss.

Sigh, was expecting that the end of the update would stabilize things, but it's fair made them worse.

Yep, my news site. Though by now, the hourly traffic has dug itself an equal deeper hole. Fortunately, the shop is doing okay, although traffic there dropped today as well.
