Today, I’m talking alongside Mark Gurman, who is the world’s best-sourced Apple newsman — the two as Bloomberg’s chief Apple equal and the presenter of the upcoming podcast Power On.

Earlier this month, Apple hosted its annual iPhone hardware event, practically all item of which was reported onward of period by Mark. But this event was special, for a figure of reasons.

It was new Apple CEO John Ternus’ archetypal important merchandise initiate since he took complete for erstwhile CEO Tim Cook small than two weeks prior. It was additionally the debut of the iPhone Duo, Apple’s archetypal foldable smartphone. The timing of those two things was not at all coincidental, as you’ll comprehend Mark explain. Apple takes these hardware events — and the stories they inform — extremely seriously.

This year’s narrative really says a awesome agreement concerning what’s happening at Apple, how Cook managed in wholesale guidance ranks complete the former year, and how all of that power alter Apple’s culture. Furthermore, what all that tells concerning Ternus’ scheme to navigate Apple from what you power call the iPhone era into the AI era.

Okay: Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman on the forthcoming of Apple. Here we go.

This discussion has been lightly edited for dimension and clarity.

Mark Gurman, you’re the chief Apple equal and the managing publishing company of person innovation at Bloomberg. Welcome to Decoder.

Good to be current finally. Thanks for having me. And it’s been a while, so it’s fine to capture up on all things Apple.

Yeah, I’m really enthusiastic to conversation to you. Obviously, Apple fair had its big event. They announced the iPhone Duo. It was John Ternus’s archetypal event as CEO. This is a Decoder episode, so we’ve got a new CEO, and we’ve got a new org diagram inner of Apple.

There’s been a lot of shuffling. You’ve been chronicling them very, extremely deeply complete the former few years. Let’s fair commencement alongside the event. I have a extremely essential inquiry for you.

Sure.

Do you always get nostalgic for a period whenever you didn’t cognize what was going to happen at the iPhone event?

Do I always get nostalgic?

Do you always desire that you, Mark Gurman, were concerning to be surprised?

Honestly, I never think concerning it that way. I’m fair fixated on delivering the products and delivering the news. And group affection their Apple. People desire to cognize everything that’s coming downward to the final minute, so I’m current to provision it for them.

The item alongside me, and I don’t cognize if most group cognize this concerning me, but I anticipation group cognize this concerning me, is that I’m a huge Apple fan through and through, and I’ve continually been. And I’m so fortunate to be capable to shield a business that I love, a business that I am obsessed with, and a business whose products I use. There are so many group who shield companies that they couldn’t attention small about. That’s not me.

So I do what I do since I affection Apple and I affection covering Apple. I affection the community about it, and I affection talking concerning it. And it’s continually fun to get a peek at the forthcoming and assistance keep not lone myself informed, but group informed about me.

That really leads me to a lot of things since I’ve known you forever. We’ve been operating in and about the identical spaces forever. You got your commencement as an Apple blogger at the Apple rumor sites.

There’s a entire civilization about Apple that has grown up and changed complete the years, and you can trace it to distinct eras of hardware, to distinct CEOs, to distinct sizes of the company. This was the archetypal event alongside John Ternus as CEO. Apple announced a big new merchandise in the iPhone Duo.

Do you awareness that the community is changing? How do you think that community has changed complete the years? And do you think Ternus is going to guide to a difference in what that community feels like?

I have to say, this event really didn’t awareness much distinct than a Tim Cook event. They felt beautiful interchangeable. It could have been Tim up there introducing it. It could have been Ternus up there introducing it.

The one item I volition say that did awareness slightly distinct is that Ternus came out swinging alongside a item of perspective on AI. The archetypal item he came out alongside was concerning the intelligent individual hub. Now, here’s the big difference between Tim Cook and John Ternus in conditions of their administration style. You’re inner Apple, you’re an executive, you’ll arrive to him alongside an idea, you’ll arrive to him alongside a viewpoint, a decision, an opinion, and he’ll fair capsicum you alongside additional questions. He won’t create a distinctive decision in many cases. It’s extremely much common decision-making, collaborative decision-making.

John Ternus, if you arrive to him and you desire him to create a decision, he’ll create a decision. He’ll have an opinion. Now, you may dislike his opinion; you may entirely differ alongside him, but he has a viewpoint. But that’s the big difference between talking to group concerning Ternus and Tim.

Ternus comes out talking concerning his perspective on AI. I may differ alongside it. A lot of group may differ alongside it. They may think the OpenAI or Anthropic method is superior, but at smallest he came out and had a viewpoint.

Apple’s been at this AI equivalent now for two years since they launched Apple Intelligence at WWDC in 2024, and it’s been a mishmash of things. They haven’t really arrive out alongside a extremely powerful narrative and viewpoint, and they eventually did. So, as I said, whether you concur alongside it or not, they did do that. And I idea that was a really engaging way to boot off the keynote.

All right, we’re fair going to enter the weeds of Apple nerds disagreeing concerning things.

Okay, let’s do it.

I sat through that event, and I appreciated the identical item that you saw, which is, “Oh, we’re telling a story.” John Ternus is on the stage, and the archetypal item he’s doing is telling a narrative concerning this merchandise and how it fits into the cosmos of technology. And afterward I took a beat, and I was like, oh, but they’re additionally fair making certain that he’s prosperous at his archetypal event by playing Apple’s top hits.

Because an “intelligent individual hub” is fair a replay of Steve Jobs saying the iMac was the digital hub. At the extremely end of the event, Ternus said, “There’s one additional thing, and it’s the iPhone Duo.”

There was fair a part of all of that that, to me, felt akin Apple saying, “Look, our new CEO can put on the apparel of the old CEO. He can do this identical dancing that you’re expecting.” Underneath it, what I felt was, to your point, that I don’t buy the narrative concerning the intelligent hub.

No, I don’t buy it either.

Because any of the things we’re seeing AI do are happening in haze services. It’s the identical week that Meta launched Muse, right?

Right.

You can awareness what you desire concerning Meta launching Muse, but Mark Zuckerberg is giving everybody 8GB of retention and 8GB of RAM in the cloud, and Muse can go do a lot of things that AI on the iPhone entirely cannot do at this item in time.

I fair felt akin there was a part anywhere they were playing it really harmless alongside John by having him basically display up and be the new guide singer of Journey. You can’t get it incorrect if you’re going to do “Lights.” If you’re going to display up on phase and do “Don’t Stop Believin’,” you’re going to be fine for a minute. And it’s all the material that comes following that’s going to really display his genuine personality. But it appears akin you idea that that’s his item of view.

Well, it’s a brace of things. At a extremely elevated level, Apple’s going to inform a narrative about what they have. If Apple invented ChatGPT, they would’ve invented ChatGPT, and they would’ve told a fine narrative about that. Apple has gone as far as it’s capable to, at smallest for now, on AI. So it’s telling the story, the finest type of that narrative that they can alongside what they have to activity with, alongside the animal they have in hand. So that’s the one thing.

I concur alongside you on the intelligent individual hub, and how that compares to the iMac rear in ‘98. And it feels akin they’re trying to market this pivot from the Mac as the center of everything alongside the peripherals about it; afterward you got to iCloud in 2011, the center of everything alongside the peripherals about it. Now, it’s this Intelligence correct at the center alongside everything about it.

But what’s so fascinating is that Apple held a important merchandise initiate event in September of the twelvemonth 2026 and did not current a sole notable new AI feature. The archetypal 15 minutes or so of the keynote was merely a replay, a re-narrativization of what they introduced complete the former two years alongside Apple Intelligence. And so they tried to fair inform that narrative in a additional tangible way.

The another item is they don’t have any AI devices at the extremely core, and so they need to prop up the iPhone as their AI equipment since they don’t have an alternative. But of way they’re lone going to do that until they have that killer device, and afterward they’re going to alter that entire narrative.

So it’s a extremely narrative PR and marketing-driven company. And I’m not saying that to be critical. I mean, if I ran the company, evidently I’m going to tout what I have. I’m not going to veer from that. But it is engaging how they’re playing this. And I agree, they did perform it extremely safe. There’s nothing safer than John Ternus introducing a new iPhone. It’s akin the safest item you can do. No important new AI product, no astute residence hub, nothing in the spatial space, fair direct downward the middle.

Yeah, it seems akin that next motion of astute residence products, which we’re expecting afterward this year... I say, “We’re expecting.” I’m expecting it since that is item you have reported.

[Laughs] I am expecting it, yes.

Mark Gurman is expecting new products from Apple. That is the archetypal cut at several really AI-native devices. Because you have Siri AI and it is functional now in a way that it earlier was not functional, you can try several new classes of devices.

There are concerning a fractional dozen AI-native devices coming in the next twelvemonth and a fractional or so. The archetypal volition be the astute residence hub, which is basically an Amazon Echo Show but Apple-style. It volition have a quadrate display and an entirely new functioning system. The idea is: what would a Siri AI functioning scheme appearance like? This is that: intercom, video conferencing, proactive intelligence.

So you stroll up to it, it recognizes who you are, and it volition display satisfied individual to you. It volition cognize who is speaking. Obviously, the Amazon Echo can do that, but Apple’s doing it in its own Apple-y way alongside AI-based Face ID.

They’re operating on a residence safety system. They’re operating on another type of the astute residence hub that I fair talked concerning that is attached to a robotic arm. So you put it on your desk, and it can move around. It’s really a category that’s beautiful popping in Asia and in China correct now.

Then you’ve got the wearables, the astute glasses. I motionless accept those are going to be introduced and shipped in 2027, so not too far from now. Trust me, you’ll be wearing them. Within 365 days, you volition be wearing them and have video footage of you wearing them at the Steve Jobs Theater. And if that is not the case, either item went horribly incorrect for you or item went horribly incorrect for Apple.

You’ll additionally have the AirPods alongside cameras. That’s an engaging item that we should conversation about, but they’ll have the AirPods alongside cameras and afterward a few another wearables that I won’t get into.

So this is what I was talking concerning whenever I stated there were eras at Apple and people’s association alongside the business really changed. The Steve Jobs era was defined by devices, and in particular, Steve Jobs himself getting up and doing a keynote and famously putting up pictures of all the existing smartphones and saying, “Well, these all suck. And here’s the logic they all suck, and here’s the iPhone and here’s why it’s better.”

That created one benevolent of association between Apple’s enormous community of fans, its leader, and the products. I think that was extremely successful. I think the Tim Cook era has been meaningfully different. I think it’s mostly a narrative concerning scale. To several extent, it’s a narrative concerning values. To a huge extent, it’s a narrative concerning privacy.

Apple has marketed itself as the privacy company. It fought the FBI to keep the iPhone encrypted. There’s a lot there alongside Tim Cook’s type of the company, but it’s additional corporate. Certainly, it’s fair a vaster company. It’s safer. It’s not as coarse about the edges as Jobs’ Apple, but it wasn’t as device-based.

I don’t think the Vision Pro has the identical benevolent of mainstream traditional effect as equal the hockey puck mouse that Jobs put out. There was a item that he could do alongside products that Tim Cook Apple could not fairly do alongside products. And that fair feels really distinct to me.

I’m going to accurate you on that since all period I put an part or a article out concerning the Vision Pro being on existence support, I get what amounts to basically a notch or two below a death danger from dozens of people. So group are passionate concerning it.

Dozens? Dozens?

Well, honestly, I think what it is is that group have created businesses about spatial computing and apps, and they’re fair pissed off that they’ve invested all this period and prosperity in a category that’s likely going to die out.

And afterward you have consumers who spent four expansive on this product, and they’re like, “I saved up for this thing, I’m living alongside this thing, and I’m pissed off to comprehend the realities.” But if you have another hour, we can conversation concerning the Vision Pro.

No, the difference there is good. People have invested in it. They attention deeply concerning it. The difference I’m making is that the association group have to Apple in the Cook era is as an institution. It’s fair akin this big item that spans the globe on a enormous scale.

It’s IBM.

Yeah, and in the Jobs era, it was all concerning really, really innovative new products that redefined categories complete and complete again. You’re describing a entire bunch of new products that came up in the Cook era that John Ternus is going to launch. How do you anticipate the civilization of Apple to alter about its products or its association to the civilization to alter as we go from one CEO to another?

But think concerning what they did. You’ve got the coolest new iPhone and Apple merchandise in perchance 10, 20 years introduced one week following Tim Cook steps down. And afterward for the next 12 to 18 months, you’ve got, I don’t know, six or seven new merchandise categories. Maybe you have 25 beautiful breakthrough things.

So Tim Cook made a decision that, equal although his tenure at a merchandise business was beautiful constricted in important new things, the Apple Watch turned out to be a success, equal although it started as a complete dud, as you remember. The AirPods are a distinctive beast in that they’re an accessory, but it’s not a phase on its own yet. It’s going to get there. And the Vision Pro is a failure.

Tim Cook could have ended his tenure as CEO alongside the iPhone Duo. He could have fair waited. Typical transitions at Apple happen mid-October or mid-April; they happen on January 1st. It was a particular decision that was made for John Ternus to be the one to current the iPhone Duo. It was a particular decision made for John Ternus to be the one to current this entire new merchandise roadmap. Even though, as you know, since of the dimension of hardware betterment cycles and R&D, these things were in the oven for five to 10 years.

So it’s really engaging that this decision was made to let Ternus be the visage of this entire new era of products fairly than authorize Tim Cook to obtain the credit for it. And I think that’s to your item anywhere they’re trying to diagram the row in the dirt of this new era. If Cook is already going to stage downward in the next three years, let’s fair do it now and let Ternus obtain the credit for everything.

Take me inner that. You’ve evidently done a lot of reporting. I think you were the archetypal to interrupt the news that Cook would be searching for a successor. You were, I think, among the extremely archetypal to interrupt that it would be Ternus. Tell me concerning that process.

This is a big decision; Cook is going to perform a huge function at the company. He has a enormous compensation program tied beautiful much to having to conversation to Xi Jinping and Donald Trump. It seems akin that’s his job: to fair oversee that relationship.

For $47 myriad a year, I would conversation to Trump and Xi Jinping on the phone all day.

[Laughs] I would need at smallest 50, but that’s fair me. That’s his job: to go do government much the identical way that Eric Schmidt at Google was in accusation of governments following Larry Page became CEO. There’s a entire form here.

Brad Smith at Microsoft, equal although he wasn’t CEO, but yeah.

He’s the chairman of the company. Yeah, there’s a parallel here. Tell me concerning this decision of Tim Cook wanting to elevate his stance to item akin that, and of making John Ternus the visage of the merchandise flank of the business in this new role.

So 2023 rolls about and Tim Cook starts all administrator squad meeting, all high-level meetings alongside group at Apple at the administrator levels, with, “We need to commencement taking succession seriously. We need to commencement thinking concerning who the next group are.” At that time, there was a really powerful realization that many of the group at the top of Apple either had fractional a milliard dollars in the financial institution or were already billionaires, and that this era would commencement to age out really quickly.

And so Tim Cook knew that he wanted to obtain a stage back. Jeff Williams, the figure two as the COO, knew he wanted to retire. The CFO, Luca Maestri, wanted to retire, too. The broad counsel, Kate Adams, additionally wanted to retire. They were all concerning the identical age, provision or obtain a few years. So they basically came up alongside this scheme that would go one by one complete the next few years.

It started alongside the CFO. Luca retires at the extremely end of 2024, and he’s replaced by the new CFO, Kevan Parekh. Then 2025 rolls around, and Jeff Williams, the COO, retires and is replaced by his deputy, Sabih Khan. Then in 2026, they had the passage for the broad counsel, and they got a awesome replacement for her from Meta, Jennifer Newstead. And afterward at the end of 2026, the big one: Tim Cook to John Ternus. So they played this out very, extremely slowly.

What Tim Cook has done, and I do think this is going to alter in the Ternus era as we advancement here, is that he came up alongside this scheme that I call “Hotel California.” You never desire to leave. Tim Cook, he’s staying about as administrator chairman. The broad advise had her remain about an additional six to nine months to run authorities affairs. Jeff Williams stayed about three to four months following strolling downward as COO to fair oversee the scheme team, the observe team, and the health teams as part of a transition.

For CFO Luca Maestri, the huge bulk of his responsibilities went to his successor, but he kept three things. He kept oversight of data systems and technology. It’s basically akin your IT department, company data safety — which is safety for the institution — and company genuine estate, so campuses, retailing stores, facilities, and whatnot. It was benevolent of a BS job, I’ll be honest alongside you.

It was additional so keeping him on the payroll and keeping him about in case things hit the fan, they had a financial issue, and they needed the grownup or the gramps in the area to obtain the masculine livestock by the horns and fix things as they transitioned to the new guy. But now Luca, he’s motionless there, motionless getting paid, and he’s instruction a category formerly a week at Apple University. So he’s a prof there now. I’m not certain how much longer that’s going to run for, but he’s motionless there.

All these old-school Apple guys are either former or semi-retired or a notch between semi-retirement and retirement. And afterward we have Phil Schiller. The identical week that Ternus took complete as CEO, I reported that Schiller is leaving his remaining responsibilities of operating the App Store and operating Apple Events, and he’s at Apple now for the next small during operating on particular projects. They’re not saying what that is, but he’s there, reporting to Ternus, and motionless on the Apple guidance website. He’s about if needed in kind of an advisory capacity, and we’ll see how lengthy that lasts.

But really this is fair a gigantic end-to-end alter of the defender at Apple. It’s the biggest administrator overhaul I’ve certainly seen in my occupation reporting on Apple. Don’t forget, whenever Tim Cook took complete for Steve Jobs, there was no overhaul. Many of the guys under Cook were the identical guys under Jobs. So a lot of them have been there for a while.

This is certainly a new era, a new generation, and you’re going to see additional changes. The caput of marketing, the caput of retail, several of the another people, they’re in their mid-60s, almost. They’ve got hundreds of millions of dollars. They can’t do this forever. They’re talking internally concerning retirement. So you’re going to see another motion of changes in the next few years as well, I believe.

You mentioned Phil Schiller, who I’ve known for ages at Apple since I’m old. He’s transitioning out of his function operating the App Store. And you had a part of reporting that suggests part of it is since John Ternus and Eddy Cue desire to extract equal additional prosperity from developers. They desire to keep that Apple tax high. They desire to discover additional ways to have services revenue, and Schiller wasn’t curious in that.

Schiller has famously continually idea that Apple was squeezing its developers too much. There’s reporting; there are emails from several of these lawsuits. What’s going on there?

Yeah, it’s extremely interesting. I mean, evidently one part of it is that Schiller is 66. He wants to expend additional period alongside his family, but for real, whenever it comes to him, he wants to do additional philanthropy. He’s been engaged in all sorts of material in that regard. But at the identical time, this is a new era for Apple. Eddy Cue has a resolute grip complete all Apple services now, really for the archetypal period in a while.

John Ternus is extremely near alongside Eddy Cue, and they are looking at new ways to create additional prosperity on the App Store, whether that’s additional promotion slots or additional subscription opportunities. Obviously, there’s going to be a reinvention of the App Store coming in the next few years to create additional use of AI and to inhabit in to Siri AI as well.

Phil Schiller, according to my reporting, believes regulators are motionless hot on Apple’s trail. Developers are motionless unhappy alongside Apple. As they go into this new generation, he wants to extend a small bit from it, but he motionless loves Apple additional than anything, and he’s motionless part of Apple for the foreseeable future.

To be clear, there was no big blow-up or item between him, Eddy Cue, and Ternus or item akin that. It just, alongside all these considerations, felt akin a natural period for him to stage off. And he’s additionally strolling distant from Apple events, right?

So it’s not fair dropping the App Store; it’s dropping his two remaining responsibilities, which was a lot, right? He was part of the Hotel California crew, but he had the most duty between the App Store and Apple Events. Those are big things.

Yeah, and value noting, he’s not incorrect concerning the regulators. There’s motionless an outstanding Department of Justice antitrust case against Apple concerning the App Store, CarPlay, and all this another material that was started under the Biden administration and has not gone distant in the Trump administration.

First of all, it’s amazing that it hasn’t gone distant under the Trump administration, stated the alliance between Donald Trump and Tim Cook. That has continually been shocking to me. I idea that was going to get blown up a twelvemonth ago.

And afterward the another item is nobody knows any of this additional than Schiller since he’s the one at the center of all meeting. He’s the one doing the depositions. He’s the one on the stand. So if anyone has the beat of these governments and the beat of developers, it’s him.

The big Decoder trope is that the construction of a business is connected immediately to its culture. If you inform me how your business is approximately organized, I can inform you anywhere concerning 80 percent of your problems are and anywhere the another 20 percent of the magic is.

Every now and again, I get pushback on this from a CEO who says, “No, no, it doesn’t matter. It’s all concerning the people.” I awareness akin Apple is both, right? The construction of Apple has been the identical for a lengthy time. Steve Jobs used to call it the world’s biggest startup. And afterward you fair had these group who had been there forever. They’re fair the identical mold of characters under Cook as they were under Jobs.

You could likely shuffle them any way you wanted, but it was the identical people, and so, of course, the civilization persisted. You’re describing a wholesale turnover at the top. And afterward it additionally seems akin there are several structural changes happening underneath John Ternus, right? Jony Ive was the chief scheme authoritative of the company, which continually felt to me akin part of that Hotel California strategy.

Oh, that was its own... That was akin Hotel Cupertino. I mean, that was its own level.

But they were fearful of him leaving since he was so tied to the Jobs era, and afterward they managed to activity him out of the company. We can conversation concerning OpenAI in a bit. But Johny Srouji is the chief hardware authoritative now. That’s not a heading Apple has always had before. That additionally feels akin possibly a transitional title.

Can we conversation concerning that? Can we conversation concerning Srouji for a minute?

Yeah.

Right now, Srouji is the second most crucial individual at Apple. He created Apple Silicon. And let’s fair visage it: you shield the entire industry, I shield the entire industry; that’s their key differentiator. That’s what allows them to do distinct stuff. That’s their rivalrous advantage. Letting this guy stroll out the entrance would’ve been a nightmare scenario, particularly correct now.

Last fall, really delayed summer to first fall, he goes to Tim Cook and tells him he’s done. This is correct whenever preparedness for Ternus taking complete is kicking into elevated gear. Tim says, “I need you to rod about as part of the transition. We can’t have you go elsewhere. We can’t have you go to Nvidia,” or anywhere he was thinking concerning going. Certainly not retiring. This guy’s not prepared to retire, I don’t think.

So Tim says, “Here’s what we’ll do. When Ternus becomes CEO, we’ll create you chief hardware officer. So you’re going to keep your existing team, and afterward you’re going to get all the Ternus stuff, and afterward you’ll undoubtedly be the second most crucial individual at Apple.” Srouji agrees, takes a new pay package, I’m sure, and now is in that chief hardware authoritative role.

I do not accept that is a long-term thing. I think that he’s already rear to wanting to passage to item new, to passage out of Apple. He really has not a lot remaining to do. He conquered the Mac; he dumped Intel; he dumped Qualcomm. What’s left? This is a guy who wants new challenges and new things, and he’s done it all at Apple, and there’s no next item to go after. They’ve really done it all.

So it’ll be engaging to see how quickly that happens, I think in a twelvemonth or two. And afterward whenever that happens, this recombination of the hardware engineering teams into one group, they’re going to have to interrupt that up again since there’s no successor to Srouji who has that industry clout and that guidance capability to be a distinctive hardware figurehead at the company.

Yeah, if you have managed to acquire Intel’s disastrous modem business and fix it, what worlds remaining are there to conquer?

Exactly.

It was the hardest item you could have perchance wanted to do, and he did it. Those modems are shipping in the new phones.

And no complaints, right? If I were to location a bet alongside you two years ago, how is this Apple modem item going to go? I would’ve guessed it was going to be a disaster.

Well, they did have to dilatory downward the Qualcomm modems to create their modems appearance competitive.

Fine, but-

There is certain material in there for sure.

Fine. But I’m talking concerning articles, concerning people’s calls dropping, not being capable to burden webpages and whatnot. All things considered, beautiful seamless.

True. So this is the inquiry that I’m really getting at: we’re talking concerning a lot of new group and, inner of it, a come back to form in conditions of fair what that guidance leaf looks like. There’s no chief scheme authoritative who’s a fable in his own right. You’re saying shortly there won’t be a chief hardware authoritative who’s a fable in his own right.

Of the heads of scheme listed on that page, Alan Dye remaining and went to Meta. Now they’re fair vice presidents again. They’re not equal SVPs of design, but they study to John Ternus. We’re headed rear towards a additional functional Apple. They’ve gotten to several benevolent of divisional construction as they try to keep all these mighty people. What do you think that’s going to do to the company, or is that fair going to be additional of the same?

It’s so interesting. You appearance at the figure of things and the amount of material that all of these reports that John Ternus has; it’s a lot. I additionally think you have a issue anywhere there are vice presidents, so a tier below the SVPs, who desire to grow, but you have these elder VPs who are going to be there forever, akin Eddy Cue.

He’s been there for nearly four decades. And you’ve had group under Eddy Cue who’ve remaining for newer jobs and big things exterior of the business since they wanted to substitute Eddy internally, but they cognize that he’s never leaving. They knew that he was going to rod about for a lengthy time. So you’re losing fine group at the VP level.

I think, eventually, you’re going to see an additional layer. I think you’re going to see this chief hardware authoritative idea rotate into several new item they’re going to try. For example, could they create Craig Federighi, who runs software, akin chief application and AI authoritative or item at one point, and afterward elevate several of the group under him to that elder VP level, provision them additional responsibility, provision them additional prosperity to keep additional group around?

So I think that guidance construction is going to be in flux for a during until they fig out how to do this. I mean, the old, old Apple, they had VPs, they had elder VPs, they had administrator VPs. You can ideate they’re going to perform alongside these things in command to keep people, since I think one of their biggest problems, another than AI at this point, is preservation of key players.

I really would diagram the association between preservation and AI. Not having that place of younger group alongside new ideas or disruptive ideas, I think, prevented them from seeing AI for what it was.

That’s a really fine point.

I think concerning what came to be known as the Cook Doctrine, anywhere Tim Cook would frequently say, “We desire to own and authority all foundational innovation that goes into our phones.” This is really fair a declaration of Apple’s own paranoia concerning being chained to Intel for a lengthy period or any it power be. They couldn’t see a way to own and authority AI since it’s fair a enormous investment. They had fair blown a bunch of prosperity trying to create a car, and they benevolent of missed it.

They don’t have a example of their own that competes at the frontier. And so Apple distilled Google’s model, and this feels akin a beautiful big jump distant from the Cook doctrine. Do you think they’re going to have to vie in AI by making their own investments on the frontier, or do you think they’re blessed anywhere they are?

It’s among the craziest things that I’ve always heard — Craig and these another executives in these interviews complete the final twelvemonth saying that, “We never owned search. We don’t need to own AI.” First of all, two entirely distinct things. Second of all, to your point, they have spent so many tens of billions, hundreds of billions, talking their mouths off concerning owning item as uncomplicated as a cellular modem. When I say simple, I average item as commoditized as a cellular modem, spending billions to buy and afterward try to fix the Intel modem business.

So you’re consenting to do that, to own item akin a modem, but you’re not consenting to own AI. It’s ridiculous. And they cognize that; that’s why they tried to own their AI and build it from the dirt up. They ran into a wall, and they had no choice but to partner alongside Google on fixing up their models.

The idea internally has continually been “we are going to activity alongside Google as a stopgap resolution until we’re capable to do our own models from the dirt up.” Let’s put that aside. At the identical time, I’ve seen entirely zero evidence that they’re really operating on that scheme A again. I’ve seen no evidence that they’re difficult at activity on construction caller Apple-made models from the dirt up.

I’ve seen no evidence that they’re operating about to create big AI acquisitions. I’ve seen no evidence that they desire to commencement throwing huge pay packages at AI researchers for Meta, Google, Anthropic, or OpenAI. So correct now it feels akin we are at a standstill. It feels akin they desire to see how this Google agreement and how operating alongside third parties goes for the next multiple months, and afterward they’ll create a decision if they desire to go rear to kind of construction and competing alongside the another guys.

I think they desire to see how things perform out. I think they desire to see the Anthropic and OpenAI IPOs. I think now, alongside all the news concerning AI safety, they desire to see how this all plays out, and perchance they’ll create a decision in six months concerning anywhere they desire to go. But as of correct now, I’ve seen no evidence that the passage of moving rear to in-house material is happening.

To be fair, it’s an advantage that there’s no chance that Siri volition slay us all. It merely is not capable adequate to do it.

Again, Nilay, they cut backwards into that. It was not a strategy. Apple’s current AI merchandise was not the outcome of fine work, right? It was the supreme failing upwards.

Let me ask you concerning that, since correct next to that, I mentioned Jony Ive; he’s evidently operating alongside Sam Altman. They’re going to build several set of products at OpenAI. A lot of Apple designers have gone complete to OpenAI.

There’s a very contentious lawsuit between the two companies. Apple accuses OpenAI of stealing inner data and merchandise plans. OpenAI says, “This is fair the normal way of business. We’re fair having conversations and job interviews.” We’ll see how that plays out.

The danger is that Ive volition scheme the next category of products using natural tongue input as the next-generation person interface, the identical way that the multi-touch display was the next-generation person interface on the iPhone, and that volition disrupt all the old paradigms.

I cognize that’s what he’s thinking since whenever he made his extremely affectionate initiate video alongside Sam Altman, he described the phone and the laptop as bequest devices. I idea that was a extremely mighty item for him to say, stated that he designed the paradigmatic examples of those things.

And Apple makes the finest bequest devices, and they don’t desire that to be their final chapter. They desire to create the finest new-generation AI devices. And current we are, them motionless trying to continue to create the finest bequest devices, but they really need both.

Well, I see it two ways. One, Apple has to get onward of the curve somehow. If they don’t have the frontier AI example that can exactly hear to item you say and do item you want, afterward what are they going to create this equipment out of?

And afterward on the another side, you have OpenAI, and if its equipment doesn’t have an Instagram app, everyone volition motionless transport their iPhone alongside them. Then they volition fair use their iPhone since it has a big display and possibly unfolds into an equal bigger screen. So they’re benevolent of pointed at all other, all missing the item the another one has. How do you think that gets resolved?

Okay. I think Apple is terrified of any OpenAI is building, and we can conversation concerning that. It’s a hockey puck-sized AI device category of equipment that you conversation to without a display or whatnot. I think Apple’s terrified. In fact, the latest betterment in their lawsuit is that Apple wants the court to display them and provision them admission to the upcoming equipment so they can analyze if it has any of their materials in it. So fine fortune to them on that one.

At the identical time, I do think Apple has the capability to fast-follow item OpenAI does. If OpenAI puts out several notable merchandise and it starts to hit steam, Apple’s fair going to copy this item and prosecute beautiful fast. Unlike the astute glasses, anywhere they’re coming five years, seven years following everyone else, I think if this donut or hockey puck item is successful, Apple volition prosecute them immediately.

I think the models are getting commoditized to a item anywhere they could fast-follow and have a extremely productive product. If Apple goes to Anthropic and says, “We desire to copy this OpenAI device,” and evidently they’re not going to provision us their concealed condiment and models, “will you partner alongside us on this?” Yes. If they arrive to Google, “We need equal improved models. Could you partner on this?” Yes. Google has no lawful hardware endeavor that’s going to be destroyed complete partnering alongside Apple on hardware. Anthropic has no hardware business. Apple can get this done.

So yes, they’re afraid, on one hand. On the another hand, I really don’t think they need to be that concerned since if it’s a success, they can fair copy it, which is, I guess, what they’re accusing OpenAI of doing from the commencement anyway.

In conditions of the lawsuit, it is extremely apparent that OpenAI workforce have done several shady things. I’m amazed that the iPhone engineer, or erstwhile iPhone engineer, is at the center of the lawsuit; this is the one they’ve accused of taking matter alongside him and sharing it alongside group and whatnot. I’m shocked that OpenAI has not cut bait on him and moved forward. I think their fear is that if they cut bait on this guy, workforce are going to revolt.

How could we rely operating at a business akin this if you are going to get sued by Apple, equal a business that big, and you’re fair going to cut bait on someone, right? So we’ll see what happens. We’ll see what happens. They’ve done shady things, but a lot of the stuff, as you said, is average endeavor practice, material that Apple likely equal does too.

It’s extremely notable to me that none of the filings in the case so far have any citation of Jony Ive. Neither business wants to item out that Steve Jobs’ figure two is at the center of all this since he’s foremost the scheme of this product.

I think it’s by design. I think it’s notable. And I equal think the base narrative of this lawsuit is Jony Ive himself. I think Apple’s item of perspective is that Jony Ive was on Apple’s payroll for fractional a decade or additional following the Apple Watch. During that time, basically destroyed the Apple scheme squad from inside and took everyone alongside him to build a competitor to the products that he developed at Apple. That is Apple’s viewpoint.

I think there’s a lot of rage towards Ive at the extremely center of this, particularly from Tim Cook and several of those another players there. I think Jony Ive’s viewpoint is that all the Apple products today are straightforward siblings of everything Jony Ive developed there. Even the iPhone Duo, you can see Jony Ive’s activity in there. It’s all part and parcel alongside Jony Ive.

I think that he believes that he created the merchandise portfolio that’s the basis of this $3 to 4 trillion company. And he was tired following carrying that business post-Steve Jobs and extremely sad concerning Steve Jobs’ death, and wanted to move on. He and Tim Cook came to an accord that he lone needed to activity at Apple for a few days a week. And so what? If he wants to eventually depart Apple and build item new and have group prosecute him, that’s up to them.

So I think it’s two extremely distinct sides of the identical story, and you can flank alongside whoever you desire to flank with. But I think it’s really unlucky that things did not activity out for Apple and for Jony Ive together in this instance. I think he saw AI as the new center innovation that he can create item really chill around, fair akin the iPhone was developed about the chill technologies rear afterward of the App Store, Multi-Touch, and what have you.

What’s really engaging concerning that, and this is a entire distinct podcast, is that all of Ive’s finest products are designed about limitations. The iMac was designed about the limitation of the CRT display. AI doesn’t have any restrictions since it continually fair tells you it can do everything. I’m fair dying to cognize what he identifies as the limitation that makes the magic of the next Ive product. As I said, that’s a entire distinct podcast, but it’s fair on my intellect as I think concerning what he power do to create this additional than fair a hockey puck that’s listening all the time.

I’m psyched to perform alongside it and to see it. And I think this screenless idea is the two a blessing and a curse. I think that we’re going to really see how productive AI is whenever we’re using it without a display and having it in the background.

But at the identical time, there are things concerning displays that are not replaceable alongside screenless devices. Gaming, enormous market. Video conferencing, enormous use case. Watching video, another enormous market use case. I fair don’t cognize how OpenAI takes complete the earth alongside a equipment that can’t video chat, can’t do gaming, and can’t do video. And we’ve seen historically that being an iPhone companion, that fair doesn’t cut it.

Actually, this brings me to you mentioning the AirPods alongside a camera. AirPods are a achievement since they have a huge nexus charge to iPhones. People buy iPhones; they buy AirPods. People buy iPhones; they buy a set of AirPods. There you go. You got a huge business.

And afterward you endure them all six months, or you interrupt them, and you have to buy new ones. So it’s crazy.

You mentioned that adding a camera to AirPods power rotate them into a phase unto themselves. That would evidently vie alongside several of these screenless devices or these AI native devices. How would that work?

Okay. These AirPods basically have the ocular intellect characteristic that you have on your iPhone. You could item at something. You can obtain act on it. You can get additional information. It’s built into the AirPods. It’s no different. So one use case is that I’m on my computer, and I have my phone, and I desire to add item to my calendar. I fair item my iPhone camera at my email, and I say, “Add this to my calendar,” and it adds it to my calendar and parses all the links. The AirPods could do that for you now.

You can inform your AirPods, “When I get to the pasta aisle at Whole Foods, halt me, ping me whenever you see the tomato condiment I’m looking for,” and it’ll do that. When you’re strolling about a city, and you ask it to get directions to the nearest Walgreens, alternatively of telling you, “Turn correct in 40 feet,” it’ll say, “Turn correct by the dreary sedan parked at the corner.” So it uses ocular data to provision you alongside environment to assistance you throughout your day.

It’s a equivalent changer, I think, and I think it’s going to be a really sought-after product. And I think that the changes we saw alongside the AirPods 5 at this Apple event, anywhere you’re now getting really firm ANC, equal although it’s not inner ear, alongside several Pro features akin the quantity rub at concerning 150 bucks, that’s a really fine merchandise at a really fine price. I think that’s environment the phase for needing to create the AirPods Pro that much better. And that’s anywhere the cameras arrive in as that center differentiator.

This brings me to the final item I desire to conversation to you about, which is Apple and privacy. The things you’re describing alongside AirPods are discipline fabrication ideas that have been about forever. I tried Microsoft HoloLens 10 years ago, and they were doing augmented actuality demos that are extremely much the things you’re describing. They had me alter spark plugs in an ATV. I’ll never ignore doing this alongside their big silly glasses on my face.

The issue has been one: it’s extremely difficult to shrink that innovation and have the suitable power division life. And afterward the another issue is, well, you’ve got a camera pointed at everything about you all the time, and group don’t akin that.

I’m continually joking that I think the killer app for Meta’s glasses is facial recognition. If you fair gave me a brace of glasses that would inform me everyone’s names and faces at events, I would be the sole top politician in earth history.

The issue alongside that is that it requires a worldwide surveillance repository of everyone taking all other’s pictures all day long. And that is likely not an suitable trade-off for me to be the top politician in the world. But I’m fair letting you know, I think that merchandise would be chill for my individual benefit. The social disbursal would be too high.

This is Apple’s brand — privacy — and they’re up against group calling the Meta glasses pervert glasses. They’re in a earth anywhere group dislike Flock cameras and all the surveillance that’s happening online. They’re doing watchOS 27 alongside an always-on listening characteristic that fair does transcripts. It doesn’t document or shop any audio, but–

Still a surveillance device. I’ll be honest alongside you. I can’t accept they did it.

I can’t accept they did it.

I can’t accept they did it.

Right? It’s fair listening, and you can double-click it, and it’ll display you a copy of the final 15 seconds of what person stated to you without their permission.

First of all, peruse the room.

It doesn’t equal ray up.

No, I know. No, that’s not true. It does ray up. But peruse the room.

I was told it doesn’t ray up.

Okay. First of all, we can enter this, but I was not at the Apple event for apparent reasons. I haven’t been at one since 2019.

Well, you already cognize what’s going to happen.

Well, I didn’t have the briefings.

Yeah.

But according to the writings on their website, whenever you’re doing that feature, it lights up alongside a microphone icon whenever you do the live rewind. Maybe it doesn’t ray up for the Siri Recap — I don’t think it does for the all day listening — but the final 15 seconds things, it supposedly shows a microphone. But Nilay, is this podcast a video?

Yeah.

Okay. I’m wearing an Apple Watch. Can you see item on my screen?

Right, it’s insane to me.

So I can’t accept they did that because, really, you’re going to obtain a backlash akin this and afterward do it again alongside a ocular intellect six, nine months from now?

And afterward you’re going to do it alongside a brace of astute glasses, and you’re going to stroll into all of the another things.

Yeah.

It feels akin Apple knows that there’s a next generation of person interfaces coming that is AI-powered that requires an amount of ambient capture, whether that’s fair listening so you can conversation to it or whether it’s ocular so you can see the earth about you. And they haven’t solved the social privacy aspect.

Nope.

There are pale document concerning how Apple power have solved the specialized repository privacy aspect, right?

Yep.

They’ve got Private Cloud Compute, and they’re going to encrypt the data. They’re not going to shop this and that. And I don’t think any of that’s going to conquer the social privacy aspect.

They didn’t do a fine job on articulating the social aspect of it at all. They could’ve shown additional demos. They could’ve discussed it a bit deeper. I cognize they lone have extremely constricted period in the keynote, but I don’t think they spent adequate period breaking things downward here. I fairly frankly think they did not do a fine job rolling this characteristic out.

I ask myself, would I be comfortable using this feature? Yeah. But afterward if I inform everyone about me in the final week, “Hey, I’ve been record you the entire time,” they’re going to freak out, and they’re not going to rely Apple. So it’s a really engaging one. I’m beautiful shocked they did it.

What are the net new Apple Watch buyers since of this feature? What is the bigger challenge, doing this characteristic or not doing this feature? And I think that doing this characteristic is a bigger disadvantage than not doing the feature. Here, there is no disbursal of not doing something.

Well, there is a disbursal if you think there’s concerning to be a motion of AI devices that are doing always-on transcripts and gathering recordings, and OpenAI is going to do something. I mean, we have seen a motion of startups that do this.

But we’re not there yet, right?

Right.

This could’ve waited six months.

So you can fair foreclose it. This is akin Microsoft stuff. You’re like, “Here’s a preview of a feature. Don’t equal regard that stuff. Eventually this volition get good,” and you’ve fair foreclosed the competitor.

Well, the another item is they had nothing alternatively for the watch, so they had to fair do something, right? This is the weakest Apple Watch update we’ve seen in a lengthy time, and they’re misplaced as to what to do next. Now they’re recalibrating it. They’re going to have a important observe revamp at the end of next twelvemonth and so forth, but they have to do something.

If it were me, I would have ripped off the bandaid at the identical period alongside all the audio affirmative ocular intellect material next year. Do it all together and have a really coherent privacy story.

But do you think that material is compatible alongside Apple’s position for privacy? This is the genuine inquiry I’m getting at: they power not have told the correct narrative concerning the Apple Watch.

Apple is going to have to inform the correct narrative concerning AirPods alongside cameras in them in a earth anywhere group are shooting spray foam at Flock cameras since they don’t desire them in their communities. There’s a association between these two ideas, and it doesn’t appear akin Apple knows how to inform that story.

Well, plainly not, since they haven’t done it. But here’s the narrative on the AirPods. They can’t document genuine video. They can’t obtain genuine pictures. They have an extremely low example rate. I’m talking concerning a few frames per second.

The genuine data that gets input into them, it’s like… Have you always used a Roomba, and whenever you appearance at the app, what does the Roomba see? It’s akin wireframes of the environment. It would not be capable to inform you and me apart. It’s fair seeing two people.

Then how can it do the brands of tomato condiment in the aisle?

Well, in conditions of non-people, it’d be capable to do that, and it could peruse text. So it’d be beautiful heavily reliant on study content and seeing color and whatnot. But being capable to differentiate between two group would be extremely difficult. It’s nearly akin a counterfeit reproduction of what’s about you. I don’t have a fine clarification for it, but I’m certain if they wanted to, they’ll provision a fine one.

I’m not certain they’re going to interrupt it down. They power fair say, “Just rely us. We’re Apple. It’s not taking pictures. It’s not taking video. It doesn’t cognize what it’s seeing to several extent.” So we’ll see how they perform it. But I would’ve done all this material together, ripped off the bandaid and spent a lot of period focused on it. There was no need to do this audio intellect characteristic at the end of ‘26 whenever you could have done it at the end of ‘27.

Unless you’re trying to gradually abscess the frog, right? You’re going to get group mad concerning this, and afterward you’re going to do the next one the next time.

Right.

It fair seems akin this next generation of devices involves several benevolent of ambient listening that we are not prepared for as a society. People are really mad concerning Meta glasses. What are you going to do concerning it?

They dirty the h2o for Apple and a lot of another companies. Meta being the archetypal mover on this created an industry-wide problem. And I think equal although Apple has specified a powerful privacy stance, there are group who don’t accept them. There are group who don’t attention what they have to say. There are group who are going to be furious concerning the Apple glasses and whatnot.

I think Apple, to several extent, is on specified a elevated equine alongside its privacy communication that it came distant amazed that there would be several backlash to Apple doing this. They think, I believe, that group are overblowing it whenever it comes to Apple and everyone should fair be focused on Meta. And fair since Meta has done a mediocre job protecting people’s privacy doesn’t average we’re going to. So we’ll see what happens.

One thing: whenever I conversation to the folks there, they never create the association between Apple and Meta in the awareness that Meta’s apps run on Apple’s phones. People are mad concerning Meta, and they motionless think the phones, Apple’s phones, are listening to them, and they can’t fairly create that association since it undoes a lot of their own messaging. If you accept your iPhone is listening to you, that’s not fair Meta’s problem. It is additionally Apple’s problem.

They benevolent of have to actively disregard that association since alternatively everything alternatively falls apart. And I think that’s why there’s this blind spot. If people’s watches commencement generating transcripts, it’s exactly the identical association as “my iPhone is listening to me, and that’s why I saw an ad for a holiday that I lone talked to my companion about.”

I’m inquisitive what they’re going to do. I have a emotion they’re fair going to demolish their way through it. They’re going to fair try to inform a fine story. They’re going to do a ton of PR briefings concerning it. They’re going to do a ton of pale document concerning it, and get as nerdy and in-depth as they can on this stuff.

You cognize what they’re going to do? They’re going to throw out a lot of comparisons. I equal heard Ternus do this in among the interviews, in Apple’s declaration on several of these features. I could totally ideate them saying, “Why is it any distinct record from astute glasses if you could fair clasp your phone up and document people?” With the audio intellect feature, one item I didn’t equal think of is the Apple Watch-

Oh, that’s funny.

“How is it distinct from a phone?” This is the industry’s approach. I think the answer is that group are like, “Yeah, I can see you doing that, and I awareness extremely comfortable telling you to stop.” There’s item distinct concerning that.

I didn’t equal acknowledge this. Someone pointed this out to me the another day. It’s akin your Apple Watch has had the Voice Memos app for, I don’t know, eight years at this point. Who stopped anyone from record their entire day alongside the Voice Memos app on the Apple Watch anyway? This is fair a additional privacy-centric type of that. So Apple’s solving a issue here. They’re not creating one. So it fair depends on how you appearance at these things. I think they’ll demolish their way through it. It’s going to be a problem, but I think they’ll be fine.

All right. Last two before I let you get out of here. We’ve talked about the iPhone Duo a lot. We’ve mentioned it a lot. It’s the item that fair came out. We haven’t talked concerning it. What do you think of it?

I think it’s incredible. I think, and this is a bold take, that foldables volition rotate into the new normal inside a decade. If you appearance at the market portion of smartphones at the end of 2006, smartphones had akin 6 percent of the market. Now they have 85 percent of the market. It went complete 50 percent of the market following five to six years.

The iPhone itself was not the origin of that, but the iPhone got everyone into the smartphone game. I think the iPhone Duo is going to do the identical for the phone market. I think it’s going to rotate into the new normal.

Even although Apple is a delayed mover to foldables?

Yeah. I think the Apple brand is that strong, really. I really do. I think the fit and finish, the application integration, is going to get group really enthusiastic concerning this category. I think that the Apple Upgrade program, the leasing program, volition eventually develop internationally. I think that’s going to get group in it.

I think that at several item they’re going to halt promotion sticker prices and concentration on the monthly prices, and they’re going to get group locked into this thing. They’re going to have a family of iPhone Duos complete time. You’ll see all phone creator fair transitioning, transitioning to foldables. Samsung: fractional the row is already foldables. Very shortly the candy bar manner is going to rotate into legacy.

That’s a big prediction. Although I volition say their iPhone handoff feature, anywhere you can move a figure between phones, seems to item to a forthcoming anywhere I, for example, have the folding phone for activity and afterward a much smaller, lighter phone for the weekends alongside the family. You can see that imagination taking form lone since it’s now uncomplicated to harbor a figure between devices, fair whenever you want, which I think is incredible.

Last question. We’ve talked a lot concerning Apple, its culture, and its set of products. What do you think its biggest challenges are in the new era under John Ternus, and what do you think its biggest opportunities are?

I would say that I think the biggest difficulty and the biggest chance are the identical thing. Ternus’ Apple for the next three to five years is motionless Tim Cook’s Apple, right? That’s fair the reality. He’s motionless going to be there in the background. He’s motionless going to loom large, and the merchandise pipeline is motionless going to be coming out of an era that started under Tim Cook.

But in five years from now, they are going to need to commencement thinking of what really replaces the iPhone as the next thing. We went from the Mac to iCloud to AI as the center. What is Apple’s new item following the phone? What is Apple’s new item following the current generation of AI? And Ternus’ tenure as CEO, I think, volition go downward as a achievement if he’s capable to discover that next new centerpiece. He’s got a few years before he needs to commencement cooking on that, but I’m talking concerning item that can be in betterment for 5 to 10 years.

Tim Cook never had the chance to have his new centerpiece of the company. He never had the chance to put his stamp on products at the business for two reasons. Both things that he tried to do as his centerpiece unsuccessful spectacularly. Obviously the Vision Pro, but the car — the car, that was Apple’s multi-trillion-dollar market cap opportunity, and they fair blew it. Ternus volition need to successfully hit that.

I’d really put a third item on that list. It was the extremely commencement of the Cook era, alongside Jobs exactly on his deathbed, and he stated he’d figured out TV.

Oh, yes.

He had to expend nevertheless lengthy pretending he knew what that meant since I don’t think it had been solved. And so there was this archetypal motion of “Apple’s going to redefine TV” since the final leaf of the Isaacson existence former had a Jobs citation on it.

They haven’t equal done a new Apple TV box in four years.

That’s a lengthy time. It’s comic since you don’t need one. It never occurs to me that I need to upgrade this thing, but perchance there’s going to be several AI feature.

Well, Siri AI. They’ve been waiting for the Siri AI update. This could be a entire another podcast, but Siri AI has been the entrance to all of these new merchandise categories. The AirPods were expected to be out already, the Apple TV, the HomePod, the astute residence hub… all these devices were expected to arrive out. Apple couldn’t do any of them until Siri AI. Now Siri AI is here, so the floodgates are open.

All right. Well, Mark, we’re going to have to have you rear on the display to conversation concerning those floodgates and all these new products extremely soon. I can’t accept you haven’t been on until now. Thank you so much for being on Decoder.

Yeah. And evidently I’d affection to have you on my new podcast, Power On Podcast, launching extremely shortly. So gratitude in advance.
