Apple volition add new limits for “full disk access” on Mac in reply to risks posed by AI agents, as reported before by TechCrunch. In an update on Friday, Apple says it’s rolling out new controls to “ensure that users who genuinely desire to aid an app this bonzer flat of admission can lone do so alongside extremely definitive person action.”

The alter comes fair weeks following Inc’s Jason Aten established that Meta’s Muse AI somehow knew the contents of his messages, notwithstanding not giving the chatbot definitive approval to admission them on his iPhone or Mac. Some developers are using Full Disk Access in ways that could put users at risk, exposing everything on their systems—including files, mail, messages, and equal browsing history—without users’ complete cognition and understanding… As AI agents rotate into increasingly capable and autonomous, the risks connected alongside this flat of admission volition develop substantially.

Full disk admission is a permission on macOS that gives an app admission to a user’s complete system. Apple says the characteristic “largely sidesteps” privacy controls offered to users “to authorize backup apps to function correctly on Mac.” The business doesn’t say whenever it plans to rotate out its update for complete disk access. Apple didn’t immediately react to The Verge’s petition for comment.
